sub/conscious

I decided to remove this game, after talking to a lawyer. The risks were too much, and the chance of really awful criminal convictions rather too real.

  1. I am pretty sure you are aware of how awesome yet flawed this is. But just in case…

  2. Do you have anything particular in mind when you speak of flaws?

    Whoa. Great concept.

I played it the first time with a pop-up blocker on. I couldn’t see what thoughts the narrator was repressing, just when he did so. Pretty different feeling the second time when I allowed pop-ups.

The popup idea was great. Using something separate from the game as part of the experience added another dimension.

An incredible idea. This is genuinely new.

I felt very voyeuristic, like I got a view of someone’s head you couldn’t get from other media. Made me realise just how personal is one’s own computer!

I plucked up the courage to get to the end after all. Wonderful~! (Although, Firefox decided it was having no more of your pop-ups about halfway through, which spoiled the fun a little. Hoping I didn’t miss anything too terrifying. :D )

Though thinking about it, maybe the whole “playing games online” might be an issue anyway…

I find it very inappropriate it starts googling things without asking or making any kind of indication it’s going to do so. Especially when it does google image searches for “underage girls naked”. And even more so considering google stores all your searches along with your IP for years.

I’ve enjoyed playing several of your games on here, and this idea is really quite neat. But tricking people into incriminating google searches isn’t really cool, especially given that a) google hoards/stores data for a really long time, b) our privacy isn’t what it used to be, and c) searching for certain phrases online can itself be a crime in many jurisdictions. I’m glad I stopped when it searched for “young girls” and read other comments on here.

I think I’ll be leaving this site now. Sorry, you seem like a very original game designer, but I’ll err on the side of caution/paranoia.

Fortunately, I read the comments before playing, and used LeechBlock to block *google*. Since the ‘blocked’ page tells you the URL, I could laugh at the searches, rather than be ‘uh oh’. Unfortunately Firefox decided to block the last 8 popups without an option to allow them.

Still, I’m surprised you didn’t put a warning!

Hooray, now my browser history is filled with titties and sluts! The sad thing is the game is so so so so true. xD I really liked the idea but come onnnnnnn now I look like a weirdo. x) tbh I don’t really care about that stuff but it would be nice to do a NSFW thing. :p

I enjoyed this meaningful game, that’s why we’re in this website, right?
Also, the NSFW warning was obvious due to the display image, right?

Hey, man. Thanks a lot. At first, I thought it was just another shitty game you made, trying to be “deep” and “mysterious” but I guess I was wrong. It was a shitty game that was malware. Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster for Firefox and ABP.

Very clever, interesting to see these themes explored in an interactive content setting.

Can appreciate some people being annoyed but not me, lets delete the history and not worry about it anymore ;)

Lets be honest, I’m sure its not the first time that everyone commenting on here would of done that…..

I love moments in games where the computer itself is called into play – such as in the adventure game The Farm when you open a cd player in game and your real disc drive opens, making you choose suitable music for the inmate you are with to listen to. Personally, I feel underage girls naked is pushed it too far – it’s fine to trouble people (though the NSFW should be large; would be shitty if anyone got fired over this) but not cool to trick them into potentially illegal activity. I don’t think ethics can be divorced from art, really.

You HAVE to put a warning about the whole “underage girls naked thing.” That could get some people into some serious shit.

Heh heh, I went into this game without reading the comments. I stopped right after the first pop up, read the comments, and now I have to say what the hell man? I love your games but that’s sort of a bad idea. People can get in trouble for stuff like that.

This game should be removed from the website. Automatically searching “underage girls naked” is not okay. There should be a warning on this! I just discovered this website and while many of the games seem interesting, I will not be returning, let alone donating, because this game is unethical and disgusting.

  30. Could you just do the game with out actually using google? This sounds like a hilarious game. I’ve yet to play any of your games, I’m waiting for some to download now. I’ll let you know how it goes.
