I’m so confused! It’s weird but I like it.

Is the R key deliberately disabled in the graveyard? It seems to work everywhere else, but not in the graveyard, which is a bit nasty given all the open graves. I can’t tell if it’s a bug or a feature.

I couldn’t find a button in the graveyard. Maybe it’s in one of the graves but I’m not in a hurry to find out.

Departing from the graveyard to the dump on the dark blue line (birth?) doesn’t work – the train despawns and dumps you on the tracks. The cyan line (life?) works normally.

On one occasion, I forget the exact location, but I believe it was on either the birth or life lines again, travelling west/left, the train I was travelling on appeared shifted to one side so that it ploughed through the platform and there was no space to get in or out unless you were lined up with an opening in the platform wall.

Lastly, is there a way to break mouse capture? (Playing on OSX right now.) At the moment I have to quit out to do anything else.

Okay I explored the circle of life line and now I am kind of frustrated from cats and birds and nauseous from balls. I did press the button in cats but I’m not sure if I was supposed to be able to. I’m guessing maybe somewhere there is something to make you small (into a cat?) but I just kept pushing and smushed my way through some of the walls. After about twenty attempt I jumped to the button in birds but it didn’t add to the inventory. I thought from the label maybe it turned me into a train but I’m not sure how to tell. Again, maybe something is supposed to turn me into a bird to be able to get there without all the falling? And yeah, balls just makes me motion-sick. :(

Intriguing idea for a game, but very glitchy for me! The train doesn’t seem to move from one area to the next, but rather sort of glitches there, most of the time. Also my position sometimes changes abruptly. And I can’t leave Stars. Respawning doesn’t work there either. I can’t avoid getting off the train there either, I just get dumped. When I get back on, the train doesn’t leave the station but just glitchily jerks around in place for a few seconds. Is this intentional? is there a trick to leaving Stars?

    Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 9:13 pm | Permalink
  12. Hmpf wrote:

Addition/correction on the Stars issue: it turns out getting dumped there was the result of trying to respawn when the train didn’t leave the station anymore. Still, the main issue of being stuck at Stars remains. Once I’m there, the train just won’t leave.

  15. Hey Hmpf, that behaviour sounds pretty unintended. Thanks for getting in touch. I have just uploaded a new build, but it’s unlikely to have fixed the problem with stars you describe, unfortunately. I’d stay away from the stars, were I you. (I’m not able to reproduce the bug you describe, but I came across one other bug in the area). If all else fails, if you walk down the tracks, you should be able to get out.

“Also my position sometimes changes abruptly”
I don’t understand what you mean by this (beyond the sudden change between stations you describe).

As a fellow subwayman, I wanted to extend my congratulations to you on building such a fine subway system. Despite the occasional glitch here and there, it seems to work marvelously well. Your system is fast, efficient, quiet, affordable, and friendly. Not sure what to make of those walking clocks, though.

Your Climbing Wall has inspired me to propose to our budget committee that we install one at our Meddybemps station. (We’ll probably skip the roaming sheep and seletons, though.) On behalf of all our riders, I’d like to thank you for the inspiration.

    Safe travels in the Underground!

i’ve spent more time than i should probably admit playing this. there’s
something super interesting and appealing about this world you’ve made and i
really enjoy spending time in it

some notes, with no focus in particular:

    – every level had some weird cool gimmick that made it interesting and worth
    exploring, and i love that
    – abandoned is a super nice touch
    – graveyard and nowhere are deeply, *deeply* unsettling in impressivley
    different ways
    – if there are levels where the button is impossible to hit, stations like cats
and disco do a real good job of convincing me that all stations have buttons
    that can be hit
    – i love that there’s like a flight minigame at the airport
    – that weird thing above the top of the level in balls is pretty cool
    – the corpse in time zone made me sad :<
    – i like the way equipment depot doesn't ruin your save

buttons i have so far been unable to click:

    – end of line
    – graveyard
    – masmo
    – musical place
    – saturn (which might just be broken for me; i'm not sure if the screen being
    completely black througout is intentional)
    – stars
    – storage facility (where i can see the button but can't get to it)
